UBUNTU! WHAT IS IT, ITS USE AND ADVANTAGES COMPARED TO WINDOWS.

Ubuntu is an operating system(same to windows operating systems) that can run on almost any computer. It is Linux based, and thus can be edited by many people. It is free to install(for windows you have to buy them, but ubuntu operating systems are freely downloaded from their website www.ubuntu.com) and contains many free programs, so it is a great low-cost alternative to Windows.

Ubuntu is constantly being updated by dozens of people(not for windows which are updated by only microsoft specialists), so it is an operating system that fits the needs of many types of people.

Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others', or 'I am because we are'. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world. This is where the name for the OS came from as it was developed by a South African named Mark Shuttleworth.

Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.

You may have heard about Linux and be asking yourself, “What is Linux OR Linux based operating system?”

Well Linux is an open source operating system, which is kind of an adapted clone of a UNIX operating program. In the beginning, during the nineteen sixties to eighties computer devices were huge, cumbersome things that had been only depending on codes to get useful. A standard user wasn’t able to run a computer if he wasn’t very cognisant of various techniques of coding and he usually had to have access to the resources of a large corporation, the federal government or a well-funded university. Computer geeks and nerds arrived with a hunger to acquire quicker, simpler and even more powerful systems that might not be restricted to large mainframe computer departments. Bill Gates came up with MS Dos and also then the GUI interface which led to the advent of Windows, while programming gurus came up with a changed and improved model of UNIX that was christened(baptised) – Linux!

Linux currently is much changed compared to the Linux of yesteryear. No longer do you really have to comprehen codes or master programming expertise to be able to work on a Linux procedure. But mainly because persons have grown to love the GUI(Graphical User Interface/A human to computer interface in drawings) program of Windows, Linux for a long time wasn’t commonly used by the ranked masses of home users. Even so, programmers, professional laptop developers and server-side buyers acclaim Linux for being the finest running system available. Linux now has solid safety measures, and functions fantastically in the arena of server and hosting solutions. On the other hand, for most consumers this OS has some issues outstanding in that it appears incompatible with a variety of computer softwares, the being mostly Windows–based utils and games.

When you are new to this OS it is suggested that you just sign up for a Linux discussion board. These discussion boards may help you in being aware of the best working techniques by way of first hand person experiences. For newcomers, Linux community forums could support them with troubles of software package compatibility, commands/codes and many others. For knowledgeable customers, a Linux forum is a system in which they will share their information and help rookies to get comfortable using the OS, especially if they have been avid Windows users. It truly is hard to get a consumer to convert to Linux when all of your daily life is spent using Windows. They need the help and even camaraderie that forums provide.

Linux boards will also offer you a platform exactly where queries pertaining to numerous Linux types are going to be answered and talked about. You will discover distinct classes of Linux on these boards, these as Arch, CentOS, Debian Linux and so on. These message boards may also be an excellent ground for builders who need to create programs and systems that could be appropriate when using the Linux system. Recall you can use all Linux meant software program on Windows, however you can’t use Windows dependent software on Linux.

Experienced Linux discussion boards also give extensive Linux tutorials that may information you to operate the method. You could acquire various alternatives to Linux hardware/software compatibility troubles that happen to be faced by just about every single Linux user.

For those who ever want a evaluation on Linux publications, you can discover that out on Linux boards much too. Due to the fact forums are depending on user encounters rather than expert opinions/suggestions, it could from time to time be biased. Within this situation, it is constantly encouraged you talk to with a Linux professional or any one who knows personal computer sciences very very well. Nonetheless, it is possible to often find the finest information from skilled users in the forum so you can really get to answer you own question: “What is Linux?”

Lets end here for today, for technical support on ubuntu/Linux just contact me through nshoba@hotmail.com. Wish you successful learning.

How you can increase the speed of your computer

Have you noticed your computer getting more and more slow recently? Is it slowing down to a point where it’s hard to do your work? Well I’ll show you how to solve this ever annoying problem.
Computers don’t get worse with time. They remain the same speed you bought them at until the day you throw them out. It usually problems with the software that interferes with the speed, not the computer’s age. That’s just a myth.
It has also been thought that “anything will do” when it comes to programs to clean up the muck and scum that floats around. You have to be careful when downloading programs to maximize your performance and to get the best computing experience possible.
So here’s a few ways I’ve found that seems to give my computer that extra little boost when I feel it’s lagging slightly. They seem relatively easy to follow, so I’ll just get started right away.
1) Scan For Spyware
AVG Anti-Spyware
Spyware and Adware get onto your computer on a daily basis, as they can come from things like downloads, to just browsing the net. This is usually one of the main offenders in slowing down your computer. I’d advise you use AVG Anti-Spyware, although there are many other good alternatives.

2) Check For Any Viruses

NOD32
Yes, I know this one sounds rather obvious, but a lot of computers I’ve seen in my lifetime are simply slow due to lack of anti-virus software (Or sometimes, lack of a GOOD anti-virus program). If you have the money to spend on a decent anti-virus, I’d really recommend NOD32 (http://www.eset.com/), but if you don’t have the money to spend, or you just want a good free program, go and download Avast!. Note- downloading antivirus takes much time, if your internet is slow you better ask computer experts most of them have them, check me on nshobaansy@gmail.com i have a lot of them, and i can provide you for free.

3) Clean Up Your Registry
Registry faults happen on a day-to-day basis, sometimes occurring on their own. So a clever thing to do would be to clear up your registry, and fix these faults. I really recommend using Registry Clearer, as I’ve been using it for some time now, and I’ve had virtually no problems with it, apart from maybe the fact it sometimes takes two scans to clean the registry completely.

4) Use A Defragmenter
Disk Defragmenter
By Defragmenting your hard drive, you should see results very quickly indeed. Disk defragmenter is located in Accessories -> System Tools. It will free up your hard drive, and thus, should speed up your computer.

5) Delete unwanted files/folders
If you’ve got any old files or folders that you’ll never need again for as long as you live, you may want to delete these. This is because by freeing up your hard drive space you should see an increase in speed. I also recommend buying a back up hard drive to put the files on before you delete them though, just in case you end up needing the files again one day.
By following these five, rather easy steps, you should see an increase in the speed of your computer, and hopefully it will be as fast as when you first bought it.
Also, be sure to check out my other series of posts on increasing computer performance and speed in Windows:

6) Using Using Disk Cleanup
Disk clean up is one of the utilities (the other one is Disk Difragmentation) found in the Operating System(most windows). Its function is to delete all unnecessary files found in the hard disk. To get it go to start, then accessories, system tool, finally disk clean up.

7)Deleting temporary files by using RUN  (typing commands in RUN)
To get RUN, go to START, then RUN, then type the following commands
(i). %temp%, click ok, some files will appear, press CLRL and A at the same time to highlight all(select  all)
then press delete to remove them.
     (i) type the prefetch, some files will appear, do as you did in temp command to remove all of them

Now you can enjoy with your computer, high speed, high perfomance!!!!!!!!
See you again in another tutorial.
